The Master of Science (MS) in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene—a professional degree—is designed to prepare students to become leading health professionals capable of addressing problems in environmental and occupational settings. Training covers principles of risk analysis and management in the workplace and the general environment. The programs include coursework in the following areas: toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, occupational health, occupational and environmental hygiene, air pollution, environmental sampling techniques, program management and risk analysis.

This program is part of the Education and Research Center for Occupational Safety and Health (ERC) which is sponsored by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Both full-time and part time/online options of the MS in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (OEH) are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET) Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission (ANSAC) and are designed to prepare students to pass the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) examination given by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).

Students may enroll in a full-time program or may select the part-time/online program. Both options confer the same degree and students must meet the same academic requirements. The MS OEH program is flexible and can be customized to meet a variety of professional and career goals.

Limited funding is available to support students in the professional MS Program.
