Pearl Lee, MSPH OEH
Pearl has a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and graduated from the MSPH OEH program in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering in August 2019.
Why the Master of Science in Public Health in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene:
"I had a few years of field/working experience under my belt and wanted a deeper understanding of Industrial Hygiene. I already learned the "how", but needed to better understand "why" we do the things we do to prevent injuries and illnesses at work."
Overall experience in the program:
"As a full time industrial hygienist, it is challenging to balance both work and school. The part-time online program provides a lot of flexibility with course schedules, lectures, and classwork. The summer and winter institutes allow for the on-campus experience of attending class in person and meeting fellow classmates who are also full-time professionals and part-time students!"
Your interaction with program faculty:
"The faculty members are easy to interact with and are absolute experts in their field. I appreciate the smaller class sizes that allow for more in-depth discussions with the course instructors."
Your experience with fellow students:
"The MSPH OEH program has allowed me to meet full-time professionals in the same field who are equally devoted to learning and being the best in their field. It's a really great way to network - you have the opportunity to discuss and learn from fellow student's experiences."
Where are you now?
"I'm a Safety & Industrial Hygiene Specialist at Chevron in the Los Angeles, California area."
