Hongzheng Dai, PhD, MS
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Dai is the first to join our laboratory as a Postdoctoral Fellow. He has BS in Biochemistry and MS in Molecular Biology from Tsinghua University. At the University of Chicago, his interesting story on noncoding RNA and male-male courtship has earned him the Best PhD Thesis Award from the ‘Committee on Genetics.’ With extensive experience on small RNA-mediated DNA methylation from his former postdoctoral research in the Laboratory of Dr. Chua Nam-Hai at the Rockefeller University, he has been working on decoding the DNA methylation patterns in the genome of mouse embryonic stem cells. He is now wrapping up two exciting stories about DNA methylation patterns on genome integrity and genomic imprinting with fellow Dr. David (Zhiguang) Li and an invited review on environmental epigenomes. He will relocate to the prestigious UT MD Anderson Cancer Center at Houston with his wife, an MD in pathology there.
Dr. Guangjing Zhu, PhD, MD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Zhu received his MD from the Xi’an Jiao Tong University. He has been a joint Visiting Student in the Laboratory of Timothy Moran at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He joined the lab first as a Visiting Student in 2011 and then as a Postdoctoral Fellow after obtaining his PhD He has been working on developing TALEN technique to manipulate epigenomes and on histone deacetylase complex in gene transcription.
Dr. David (Zhiguang) Li, PhD, MS
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Li studied Microbiology and Immunology at Wuhan University (BS) and Fudan University (MS). He earned his PhD from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. He has been trained at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), US FDA in Arkansas. In the Wang laboratory, he has developed computational programs such as ‘NORED’ and ‘Monotag-methyl’ to examine DNA methylome and uncovered many exciting discoveries. He is working on two manuscripts with fellow Hongzheng. We are really happy for his secured faculty position at the Dalian Medical University after only two-years’ training in epigenomics. He will set up an Epi-/Genome Center on a beautiful coastal campus of DMU.
Cheng An, MS
Visiting Scholar
Cheng received his MS from the Graduate School of Peking Union Medical College. He was a Visiting Scholar at Hong Kong Baptist University and is currently an Associate Professor in the Guang An Meng Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. As a Visiting Scholar to the lab in 2012, he is developing TALEN techniques.
Suzanne Martos, MS, BS
PhD Student in Molecular and Translational Toxicology
Suzanne double majored in Biological Sciences and Science of Earth Systems at Cornell University and got her MS in 2010 from Johns Hopkins. Working at US Environmental Protection Agency as an Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) Fellow, she has gained interest on environmental toxicogenomics. After her rotation in three labs, she decided to join the Wang laboratory and will work on developing/using computational programs to work on environmental epigenomes.
Qianyun Xi, PhD, MS
Visiting Scholar
Dr. Xi received his PhD from Sun Yet-Sen University and is currently an Associate Professor at South China Agricultural University. With a Scholarship from China Scholarship Council, he is expected to join the lab this Fall.
Hong Wang, PhD, MS
Visiting Scholar
Hong is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, Wuhan University. She already secured the support from China Scholarship Council and has postponed her visiting due to family issues. We expect her to Hopkins in the near future.
